Cora woke up with Robert’s arm still around her. She pressed herself a little bit closer to him. He didn’t wake, but his arm closed her in. There was no better feeling than this she thought.
She moved her hand to her abdomen, what if there was another little bean growing inside her? They didn’t know why her placenta ruptured, maybe it wouldn’t happen this time? She tried to get some more sleep. After a while she gave up. She felt a familiar feeling in her abdomen, got up and went to the bathroom.
Robert woke up noticing Cora was gone, he found her in the bathroom. “Is everything alright?”
Cora nodded. “We don’t have to go to Dr. Clarkson.” Her voice broke.
Robert pulled her against his chest. “Our family is perfect the way it is.” He held her until he felt she stopped crying.
Cora looked up at him. “I am sorry to be a disappointment.”
“What?” Robert exclaimed. “You aren’t a disappointment, far from it. Oh my darling. Of course a baby boy or another girl would had been wonderful, but look at what we have.”
Cora pressed her face against his chest. “You are right, I know you are.” She kissed him on the lips. “Now, I will prepare for the day, there is enough to do with the drive-in at the end of this week.”

Cora was sitting with Edith in the music room, she was learning to play the piano. “Wonderful darling, you did practice really well, your teacher will be proud.”
Suddenly the door opened and Violet stormed in. “You totally ignored my wishes!” She shouted.
Cora stood, and glanced at Edith. “I don’t know what you are taking about, but can we do this somewhere else.”
“You know very well what I am talking about. How could you organise that drive-in. I specifically said no to this plan.”
Cora put her hands on her hips. “Mama, you realise this isn’t your home!”
Violet gasped.
“Robert and I decide what kind of events we will have, and we live in the modern times, this will bring a decent amount of money.”
Violet huffed and turned around.
“Mama?” Edith said with a soft voice.
Cora turned around, she forgot for a minute she was in the room. “Yes, darling.”
“Why do grandmamma and you fight al the time?”
Cora sat down next to Edith. “Your grandmamma doesn’t agree on my thinking. But I love her nonetheless.” She brushed her hair. “Come let me hear your new song you learned.”

“Milady?” Carson said. “Where do you want the food and drink trucks?”
Cora turned around and gave Carson the map they made. She pointed. “On this side the food trucks and than on this side the drinks. This way we will keep the crowd separated.”
“Good, I will tell them.”
Robert walked over to Cora and gave her a quick kiss on her cheek. “I am proud of you.”
Cora smiled at him. “Let’s first see if this truly works out the way we hope.”
“No, it is not only this event.”
“Oh?”
Robert put his arm around her waist. “I love how you stand up for yourself against my mama.”
Cora’s cheeks coloured. “I was afraid you would be angry, about the way I spoke to your mother.”
Robert chuckled. “Far from it. You are the lady of the house, and we have this house back because of you. And you run it very well.”
Cora turned to face Robert and kissed him.
“Iewwwww.” They heard behind them. All three of their girls were looking at them.
Robert stepped towards them and tickled them. “Your daddy loves your mummy, that is totally normal.”
“That can be, but we don’t want to see that.” Edith said.
“Mama?” Mary asked. “May we see the movie on Friday?”
“You may stay up for it. Yes.” Cora cupped her cheek. “And now, I will go on. Otherwise there will be no drive-in this Friday.”

The drive-in had been a great success. Robert pulled Cora close to him. “You did wonderful darling.”
Cora moved her head to look at him. She was almost asleep. “Thank you.”
“You made me very proud today. I can’t wait to see what the future will bring us.”
“As long as the adventures are with you, I am up for it.” She softly kissed his lips. “I don’t want anything else, than seeing the children grow, with you on my side.”
Robert kissed her back. “That’s a wonderful wish. I can only hope we will grow very old together with our darling girls.”
